Thanksgiving: what are you thankful for?
Ahead of the long weekend we talk about Thanksgiving traditions in Canada and similar celebrations around the world.
Language exchange · Sarnia-Lambton
A free, open space where newcomers and locals meet every week to practise English and Spanish, share their cultures and build community. Teach your language, learn another.
Next meeting
Ahead of the long weekend we talk about Thanksgiving traditions in Canada and similar celebrations around the world.
What's the most beautiful place you know? We practise describing places and giving directions.
A game night to practise vocabulary without noticing: Pictionary, Taboo and more.
A special night sharing two traditions: costumes, sugar skulls, pan de muerto and spooky stories in English and Spanish. Costumes welcome!
Locals share their winter tricks and newcomers bring their questions. Clothing, driving, activities and more.
We’ll announce the next meeting soon. Join our Facebook group to hear first!
Who it’s for
Sarnia welcomes people from all over the world. We believe learning a language goes both ways: newcomers learn English, and locals discover Spanish and other cultures. We all teach, we all learn.
Build confidence in English in a relaxed setting — no tests, no pressure — and meet people in your new city.
Always wanted to learn Spanish? Practise with native speakers, discover new cultures and help others feel at home.
Share your culture, food, music and stories. Diversity is what makes every conversation interesting.
How it works
It’s free: join our Facebook group and let us know you’re coming, so we can prepare materials and organize the groups.
Sometimes we’re one big group, sometimes we split into smaller ones, depending on how many of us there are.
When it’s your turn to practise, the whole group speaks your second language and the conversation centres on you.
During other people’s turns, you support them in your native language. Everyone practises, everyone teaches.

Nothing. Meetings are free and open to everyone.
Just one: sign up or let us know you’re coming, so we can prepare materials and organize the groups. No minimum level or particular immigration status needed.
Join our Facebook group: we post every meeting there and you can confirm your attendance. The “RSVP” button takes you straight to the group. If you can’t make it after all, let us know so we can rearrange the groups.
Any level. Some people are saying their very first sentence, others are bilingual. We organize things so everyone can take part.
English and Spanish. Spanish speakers practise English, and English speakers practise Spanish. If your native language is something else, you’re still welcome to practise with us and share your culture.
Thank you
